1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Cake Shed website and the Cake Shed iOS and Android apps (together, the "Service"), operated by Betete Lise Limited ("we", "us", "our"), company number 13168303, registered in England and Wales. By accessing or using Cake Shed, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Cake Shed is a marketplace-style noticeboard: it lets home bakers list their "shed", announce when they are open, and alert local customers who have subscribed. We are not a party to any sale — every transaction is between the Baker and the Customer.

2. Definitions

• "Customer" means anyone who browses listings, expresses interest in a shed, or subscribes to alerts. Customers do not need an account.
• "Baker" means a registered user who creates and manages a shed listing.
• "Shed" means a Baker's listing page on Cake Shed.
• "Notice" means a photo and/or message a Baker broadcasts to subscribers when opening their shed.
• "Premium" means the paid auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the ability to open a shed and send push alerts and Notices.
• "Content" means any text, images, photographs, descriptions, or other material submitted to Cake Shed.

3. Acceptable Use for Customers

When using Cake Shed as a Customer, you agree to:

• Subscribe to alerts and express interest only for sheds you genuinely consider buying from.
• Not use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or scripts to access the Service without our written permission, and not overload or probe our infrastructure (we rate-limit abusive traffic).
• Not interfere with the proper working of the Service or attempt to circumvent any security features.
• Provide accurate information when reporting a shed or contacting us.
• Not use the Service to harass, abuse, or discriminate against any Baker or other user.
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

We may suspend or block access for any Customer who violates these rules.

4. Baker Responsibilities

As a Baker you are responsible for your shed and everything you publish. You agree that:

• All information about your shed — descriptions, photos, location, and opening status — is accurate and kept up to date.
• You only open your shed when you are genuinely available to serve Customers.
• You are registered as a food business with your local authority where required, and you comply with all applicable food safety, hygiene, labelling, licensing, and trading laws.
• You meet your allergen and labelling obligations at the point of sale — making accurate allergen information available to Customers before they buy and when they collect (including the prepacked-for-direct-sale rules known as Natasha's Law where they apply), and answering allergen queries honestly. Cake Shed concludes no sales, so publishing allergen information on your shed page is not legally required — but we strongly encourage it, and any allergen claims you do make in your listing must be accurate and not misleading.
• You are solely responsible for the quality, safety, and legality of the products you sell.
• You will not use Cake Shed to sell prohibited items, including alcohol, tobacco, or anything illegal.
• Notices you broadcast are truthful, relevant to your shed, and not spam, advertising for third parties, or unsolicited marketing.
• You will respect Customer privacy and use any Customer information obtained through the Service only to fulfil orders or respond to enquiries.

5. Listings, Verification, and Premium

• Free sheds: creating a shed is free. To keep listings current, free sheds must be re-verified by their owner roughly once a month; we email a reminder before verification expires. An unverified shed stops being shown as active until it is re-verified or upgraded.
• Premium: a paid subscription removes the need for re-verification and unlocks opening your shed, push alerts to subscribers, and photo Notices. Premium features apply while the subscription is active.
• Free Premium trial: new sheds receive a free one-month Premium trial (no card required) that ends automatically without converting to a paid subscription.
• Voucher codes: we may issue codes that grant Premium for a limited time. They have no cash value and may be withdrawn if misused.
• We may remove or request changes to any listing or Content that breaches these terms, and suspend or terminate accounts for repeated or serious violations.

6. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

• Premium is offered as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. The price and billing period are shown before you buy.
• Billing is handled by our subscription provider RevenueCat: via Stripe (web checkout), the Apple App Store (iOS app), or Google Play (Android app). Your payment details are processed by those providers; we never see or store your card number.
• Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time: through the manage-subscription link on your shed page (web), your Apple ID subscriptions (iOS), or Google Play subscriptions (Android). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
• Refunds are subject to the policies of the provider you paid (Stripe, Apple, or Google). Where we are the merchant of record, contact us and we will review refund requests fairly.
• Introductory offers, where shown, apply once per customer and convert to the standard price on renewal unless cancelled.
• We may change subscription prices with reasonable advance notice; changes apply from your next renewal.

7. Photos and Text on Your Shed Page

All photos and text you publish must:

• Be accurate, truthful, and representative of what you actually offer.
• Be your own original Content, or Content you have permission to use.
• Not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.
• Not contain misleading, defamatory, abusive, offensive, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate material.
• Not show identifiable people without their consent.
• Comply with applicable advertising and consumer protection laws.

Note that Notice photos are ephemeral by design: they are automatically deleted from our servers every night.

8. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the Content you upload. By uploading, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that Content solely for operating and promoting Cake Shed (for example, showing your shed on the map and in search results).

The Cake Shed name, logo, and platform design are our property and may not be reused without our written permission.

9. Account Deletion and Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the Delete Account page in the app or on the website; step-by-step instructions are also on our Data Deletion page. Deletion removes your sheds, photos, and personal data, and cancels any active subscription (store-managed subscriptions must be cancelled with Apple or Google).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or whose use harms the Service or other users.

10. Our Role and Limitation of Liability

Cake Shed connects Bakers with Customers but is not a party to any transaction between them. We do not inspect kitchens, verify hygiene certificates, or guarantee the quality, safety, allergen accuracy, or legality of anything sold. Any dispute about a purchase is between the Customer and the Baker.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of Cake Shed after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
